Cousin Trip to Rome, Florence and Puglia 2023
For our real-life cousins Jenny and Emily's first trip to Italy, joined by real-life sister Katherine, the destination was clear: Rome and Florence. Since Hannah has lived in both cities, she crafted a balanced itinerary that hit the must-see spots (the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps) alongside hidden gems like a bike ride through the gardens and her go-to authentic restaurants.
Florence followed the same formula: climbing the bell tower, crossing the Ponte Vecchio, taking in the views from Piazzale Michelangelo, plus an aperitivo spot only locals know about. One of Hannah’s most special Florence connections is the owner of an authentic leather shop. Of course they had to bring home some treasure to the U.S!
The trip didn't stop with Tuscany and Lazio. The girls closed out their adventure with three days in Puglia, exploring Alberobello, Lecce, and Ostuni, and a beach day in Otranto. Our cousins didn't know what to expect from Puglia… and they were blown away. It's a side of Italy that feels like an entirely different world (Italian + Mediterranean influence = Puglia beauty). We loved watching their bravery in trying the freshest fish dishes and their commitment to sampling every taralli that crossed their path.
